Comite de Bien Estar, Inc

Comite de Bien Estar, which translates to Well Being Committee, is HUD-approved and offers services in both English and Spanish. Some of these services include:

  • - Pre-Purchase Education Workshops
  • - Financial, Budgeting, and Credit Workshops
  • - Mortgage Delinquency and Default Resolution Counseling
  • - Non-Delinquency Post Purchase Workshops

Comite works to strengthen the community as a whole, as well as to provide Mexican Americans and immigrants with the resources they need immediately and those that they need to become self-sustainable. It began in 1977, and currently provides help with housing, day care, public schooling, and more. There is a membership fee to join Comite – a $650 initial deposit, a $40 membership fee, and a $5 monthly fee. However, Comite makes it clear that members can pay when they can afford it and is willing to work to help them.

For those interested in homebuyer education, their homebuyer education program is a total of 10 hours and offered during nighttime and evening classes.
