Guardian Life Insurance Company of America represents a strong player in the insurance industry, establishing a seat among the Fortune 300. The insurance company first began operations in 1860 in the City of New York, and has grown to be the fourth place player in terms of company size in mutual life insurance industry.

Guardian today sells insurance products ranging from long-term care to life insurance as well as health and dental plans to clients. The company also administers a number of financial tools and plans including 401K plans and annuity products. Not known to many people because it operates with different company names,

Guardian today manages one of the biggest networks for dental coverage serving more than 120,000 different businesses. To handle all of this constant, annual work, the insurance provider employees over 5,000 people and has 3,000 representatives and insurance brokers affiliated with its product brands as well.

Guardian was relocated from a prior business to an address in Manhattan in 1911 and continued to operate out of the same location for 85 years. The company then expanded facility locations to Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Washington and Massachusetts. Guardian Insurance has since merged with Berkshire Life Insurance Company of America and bought out RS Investments as well for added market and account expansion.
