About

Wallkill Valley Federal Savings & Loan is a 100 year old financial institution serving Wallkill, Milton, and Highland Falls, New York. The company operates three branches and has over $160 million in assets. Wallkill Valley Federal's slogan is “treating you like a neighbor, not a number”, and the company does indeed remain deeply focused on providing great service to the New York communities that it serves.

The Wallkill Valley Federal Savings & Loan Association was greatest in 1913. Like all savings & loans, the company's goal was to take deposits and provide home loans to the community. Though Wallkill Valley Federal has grown consistently over the years, it did not begin expanding outside of Wallkill until 2011, when it opened a branch in Milton, NY. The Highland Falls branch is the result of Wallkill Valley's acquisition of Highland Falls Federal Savings & Loan in 2012.

Wallkill Valley offers its communities personal banking, business banking, and loans. Under the personal banking division, you will find consumer products such as checking & savings accounts, certificates of deposit (CDs), IRAs, and money market accounts. Under the loan category, you will find home mortgages, home equity loans, and more. Unlike most mortgage lenders, Wallkill Valley Federal is what is known as a portfolio lender. This means that many of its mortgages are not sold to Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. This allows Wallkill Valley to make more flexible decisions on how to lend, meaning that you may be able to qualify here even if you cannot qualify for a conventional mortgage.

Since its creation 100 years ago, Wallkill Valley Federal has survived a number of financial crises. From the Great Depression of the 1930s, to the Savings & Loan Crisis of the 1980s, to the recent financial meltdown of the late 2000s, the company has remained strong. As the Wallkill Valley Federal Savings & Loan celebrates its 100th anniversary, it looks poised to continue on for much longer.
