About

Navy Federal Credit Union, founded in 1933, serves over 4 million members. This credit union offers competitive financial products including mortgages, cd rates, car loans and more to those who are or were involved in the armed forces, either directly or indirectly. This includes:

Military personnel—Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force, retirees
Department of Defense Reservists
Army and Air National Guard Personnel
Department of Defense (DOD) Officer Candidates
US Government employees assigned to DOD installations.
DoD civilian employees and contractors assigned to U.S. Government installations
All Family Members, including grandparents, parents, spouses, siblings, grandchildren, children (including adopted and stepchildren) and household members

The company's vision statement is simple but direct: “Navy Federal Credit Union will perform with such excellence that all present and potential members will choose Navy Federal as their primary financial institution.” As of this writing, the Navy FCU has nearly $55 billion in assets and 4.3 million members. Navy Federal has branches in Nevada, Florida, California, Virginia and Tennessee, and there are also more than 55,000 ATMs worldwide. Between these physical locations and online access, you will never be without your money with Navy Federal.

Though credit unions carry the same products as traditional banks, there are important differences to note. First, only members of a credit union may use that credit union's services, and each member is also a part owner. Credit unions are also not-for-profit, meaning that members of the credit union will receive all profits in the form of dividends or better loan terms.

Additionally, Navy Federal Credit Union is also a national mortgage lender. The credit union offers 15 and 30 year fixed rate mortgages and, as you can imagine, plenty of VA products. Navy Federal also has interesting jumbo loan options available to veterans.
