About

Ditech is a residential mortgage lender based in Fort Washington, PA. The brand was acquired from its former owner Ally Financial in 2013, by Walter Investment Management Co. and was relaunched in June of 2014. Before the 2008 mortgage crisis, Ditech was a well known direct to consumer brand, well know for their television ads, nascar sponsorships and billboards. It is an abbreviation of Direct Technology, and was the home finance arm of General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC). Ally Financial/GMAC owned Ditech closed in 2010. The new Ditech has re-emerged with strong consumer brand recognition. Consumers can reach a Ditech loan officer at 1-800-700-9212.

Ditech was an innovator in the subprime mortgage industry, and in the 2000s it became one of the most recognized brands in American mortgage lending. The company created a popular commercial featuring a loan officer complaining about losing “another loan to Ditech.” Later, Ditech offered unique mortgage products, such as the Sleep EZ Loan, which was a fixed rate mortgage offering interest only payments for 10 years, and the Real Life Plan, a method of combining a mortgage, home equity and credit card in order to pay down mortgage principle.
