What information do we collect?

We collect information that you provide when you fill out a request for a quote. Any data we request that is not required will be specified as voluntary or optional. When ordering or registering on our site, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your: name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, or social security number. You may, however, visit our site anonymously.

What do we use your information for?

Any of the information we collect from you may be used in the following ways:

To verify your identity

(verifying your identity allows Ratezip and its partners to dedicate more time to consumers by weeding out and ignoring spam and fake applications)

To personalize your experience

(your information helps us to better respond to your individual needs)

To improve our website

(we continually strive to improve our website offerings based on the information and feedback we receive from you)

(your information helps us to more effectively respond to your customer service requests and support needs)

RateZip does not collect unnecessary information. All of the information we collect from you serves the above purposes. Optional or voluntary information helps ensure that the above purposes are met but is not required in order to be provided with a quote. Advertisers or lenders may request additional information from you in order to move forward with a loan offer.

How do we protect your information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you submit a request or place an order. These security measures include: password protected directories and databases to safeguard your information or SSL (Secure Sockets Layered) technology to ensure that your information is fully encrypted and sent across the Internet securely.

How long do we keep your information?

We store your information in RateZip’s systems for a minimum of one year. We may keep your information longer in order to comply with recording laws; however, your information will not be kept longer than necessary and we will periodically review your information to determine if we need to keep it in our systems. You may contact us via email (privacy@ratezip.com) to determine what information we have on file and to request that we remove your information from our systems. Third party websites that work with RateZip and have separate privacy policies may need to be contacted separately in order to have your personal information removed.

Do we use cookies?

Yes. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser (if you allow) that enables the site’s or service provider’s systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. Ratezip does not currently use cookies to store private user information in its pay-per-click lead system. The persistent storage that cookies provide are not useful for the RateZip lead system because users typically do not return once they've submitted their lead information. RateZip does however utilize cookie as part of general page tracking, both in its pay-per-click lead system and also in its primary website. The general tracking information only contains the standard tracking data that providers like Google Analytics collect and maintain with their free tracking scripts. Ratezip does not explicitly retain private user information using cookies Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to our users based on their visit to our site and other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties?

We may share your information with trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others' rights, property, or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses. When you submit your request for rate quotes from one of our advertisers, you consent to be contacted by us or any of our advertisers through any means, even if you are already opted into the National Do Not Call List administered by the Federal Trade Commission, any state Do Not Call List or the Do Not Call List of any specific institution. If you do not want to be contacted, after submitting your request, you can be removed by requesting removal from the specific advertiser who is contacting you.

Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third party products or services on our website. These third party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.

California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

Because we value your privacy we have taken the necessary precautions to be in compliance with the California Online Privacy Protection Act. We therefore will not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent.

Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act), we do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age. Our website, products and services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.

European General Data Protection Regulation Compliance

We have updated our privacy policy to be in compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

By using our site, you consent to our privacy policy.

Opt-Out Policy

You may change or correct your personal information by contacting us at privacy@ratezip.com. In certain cases, your information may have already been sent to a licensed lender. In these cases you will also need to inform the lender(s) to update, amend or delete your records as well. You may at any time opt-out of any/all of our services by sending an email to privacy@ratezip.com. We will thereafter expunge your information from our database permanently. We will keep your information on record to comply with legal obligations, reconcile accounts or resolve disputes, unless you notify us that you do not wish for us to retain your information.

In the Event of a Breach

In the unlikely event that a breach affects RateZip’s systems, consumers that might be affected will be notified as soon as possible within 72 hours of Ratezip first becoming aware of the breach.

Resolving Disputes through Arbitration

Where: This Arbitration Agreement is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act. The American Arbitration Association will administer each arbitration and the selection of arbitrations will be according to applicable AAA rules. The arbitration will be held via Zoom.

Class Action Waiver: Neither RateZip nor you will be entitled to join or consolidate disputes by or against others as a representative or member of a class, to obtain relief in any arbitration in the interests of the general public, or to act as a private attorney general.

If any provision related to this arbitration agreement is found to be illegal or unenforceable, then such provision shall be severed from the arbitration agreement, but the rest of the agreement shall remain enforceable and in full effect.

RateZip or you each exercise any lawful rights or use other available remedies to:
• Preserve or obtain possession of property
• Exercise self-help remedies, including setoff rights
-or-
• Obtain injunctive relief (including public injunctive relief), attachment, garnishment, or appointment of a receiver by a court of competent jurisdiction

The substance of any disputes where public injunctive relief is available shall be decided by the arbitrator. Only if the claimant succeeds on its claim permitting the remedy of a public injunction may such claimant request that a court competent jurisdiction enter an injunction in conformity with the arbitral award.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page, and/or update the Privacy Policy modification date below. Policy changes will apply only to information collected after the date of the change.This policy was last modified on 4/27/2022.
