Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) is the largest commercial US Bank. The name originated in 1998 after NationsBank acquired BankAmerica and renamed itself Bank of America. Most Recently Bank of America acquired the nation's largest mortgage lender, Countrywide Financial, making itself now the largest mortgage originator in the United States. The company offers a full array of financial services including consumer products such as CDs, Car Loans, Credit Cards, Savings Accounts, and Home Equity and Mortgage Loans and has thousands of branches and locations across the country.
